EAL Teacher (Bangkok, Thailand)

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic EAL Teacher to support students in developing their English language skills, fostering confidence, and enabling access to the broader curriculum.
Position Overview
The EAL Teacher will deliver high-quality English language support to students whose first language is not English. The role involves planning, teaching, and assessing EAL learners across N1 to Grade 5, including in-class support, group withdrawals, and individual lessons. The teacher will collaborate closely with classroom teachers to ensure students can fully access the curriculum and achieve their academic potential.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
- Plan and deliver lessons that develop students’ English reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
- Provide targeted support through in-class assistance, small-group sessions, and individual lessons.
- Differentiate teaching to meet the needs of students at varying levels of English proficiency.
- Develop students’ confidence, self-esteem, and independence in using English.
- Tailor teaching to ensure students can access all aspects of the IPC and broader curriculum.
- Integrate inquiry-based learning strategies to foster critical thinking, reflection, and engagement.
Assessment and Monitoring
- Assess students’ English language levels using appropriate assessment tools.
- Monitor, record, and report on students’ progress and achievements in line with school policy.
- Provide constructive feedback to students, parents, and homeroom teachers.
- Contribute to student portfolios, class displays, and school communications, such as newsletters.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work collaboratively with classroom teachers to plan lessons, select strategies, and support differentiated learning.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding students’ progress and strategies to support learning at home.
- Support students in accessing resources, including bilingual dictionaries, reading materials, and ICT tools.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events as required.
Organisation and Resources
- Maintain and organise EAL teaching resources, ensuring materials are up-to-date and readily accessible.
- Promote the use of Information Technology to support EAL teaching and learning.
- Support smooth day-to-day operations of EAL teaching within the classroom context.
Student Support
- Encourage positive behaviour, social development, and well-being among EAL students.
- Foster a supportive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
- Assist students in developing strategies to become independent, confident English learners.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or related field.
- Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, B.Ed., Diploma in Teaching, or equivalent).
- Experience teaching English as an Additional Language in Early Years and/or Primary settings.
- Knowledge of language acquisition and differentiation strategies.
- Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Familiar with the IPC or other inquiry-based curricula.
- Experience supporting EAL students with additional learning needs.
- Experience using assessment tools for English language learning.
- Experience in an International School will be beneficial.
